======================================== Welcome to Freeland Graphic Tilesets 2.0 ======================================== ------ $Name: freeciv-freeland-2_0_0 $ ------ This is release 2.0.0. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Introduction Freeland is an isometric Graphics Tileset for Freeciv game with high quality graphic, using the more complex graphics system offered by Freeciv client with more than thousand tile for base terrains (arctic, desert, grassland, plains, sea and tundra). This tileset is distributed in three different set of tiles (3 different tarball): - freeland-normal (normal size 64x32) - freeland-medium (medium size 96x48) - freeland-big (big size 128x64) For more info see: - NEWS file for history news. - Freeciv forum (http://forum.freeciv.org): ~ "Art and tilesets" --> "New GPL tilesets - Freeland" (http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?t=1648). ~ "General discussion" --> "Freeland - tech support" (http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?t=1785). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Software requirements Freeland 2.0.0 require a Freeciv 2.1 distribution. - on Linux/Unix require the gtk client (cairo patch recommanded) or the sdl client. - on Windows require the "Freeciv-2.1.x-win32-setup.exe" or "Freeciv-2.1.x-win32-sdl-setup.exe" distribution. The gtk version seems to crash on starting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Hardware requirements I try it on a Pentium 4 1200MHz machine with 500MB of RAM and true color resolution. With only 256MB of RAM the big tileset seems to have trouble on display colors of some tile (this problem not arise with sdl client as reported on the forum by user Hima). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Installation - Download tarball from Freeciv download Extras page http://www.freeciv.org/index.php/Extras or from ftp://ftp.freeciv.org/freeciv/contrib/tilesets/freeland/. - Unpack the tarball on your Freeciv 2.1.x "data" directory. The tileset is selectable as any other Freeciv tileset (civclient -t set-name). - Enjoy ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. License Some graphics are adapted from GPL tilesets available for Freeciv (isotrident, amplio). All other graphics/textures used in this work are created from scratch, or derived with image manipulation from the great GPL photo collection of Susanna Gross, available at http://strike.colorado.edu.
